What Size is the Pixel 9 Pro Series?

As mentioned in the previous section, the Pixel 9 Pro XL comes with the same features as the Pixel 9 Pro. However, while both devices have an identical depth, the Pro XL is taller and wider, at 152.8 (height) x 72 (width) x 8.5 mm (depth), versus the Pro's 162.8 x 76.6 x 8.5 mm dimensions.

At 199g vs 221g (versus 213g for the 8 Pro!), the Pixel 9 Pro XL also weighs slightly more – but the bigger size shouldn't feel too bulky in your pocket or bag.

Although both use new, highly-efficient Google Tensor G4 chips to support their AI-powered features, the 9 Pro XL's almost matches that of the Pixel 8 Pro at 5060 mAh. However, the regular Pro model's capacity remains pretty large at 4700 mAh.

The two Pro devices have the same 24-hour battery life, yet the larger capacity means that the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a faster wired and wireless charging speed. In fact, according to Google, it reaches up to 70% in around 30 minutes using a 45W USB-C charger, compared with the Pro's 55% in the same time frame.

Both the base model Pixel 9 and the Pro have a 6.3-inch display and share the same premium quality. The Pixel 9 Pro XL display is bigger at 6.8 inches, which is similar to the 8 Pro's 6.7-inch screen.

The Pro and Pro XL devices have a Super Actua display and LTPO OLED Panel, with a 60Hz to 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling. However, the smaller device, perhaps surprisingly, has a higher pixel density at 495 PPI vs 486. A higher PPI number (pixels per inch) usually means better image quality, but the difference between the Pro and Pro XL displays isn't large enough to be noticeable.

The Pro models also have an epic 3000-nit maximum brightness, compared to the iPhone 16 Pro's 2000 nits. This rating means that the screen performs better in bright sunlight than the base model (which is impressive enough in its own right at 2700 nits!).
