Google Pixel 10 Pro XL Specs: Cameras, Dimensions and More

2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the Google Pixel series. Google’s latest Pixel phones were unveiled on August 20 at this year’s Made by Google event in New York City and include the base Pixel 10, the Pro, Pro Fold, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Plenty of rumors about the latest Pixel lineup, including new colors, camera features, battery life, and a self-designed chipset, circulated before this release date. However, we now know exactly what Google’s large-screen premium flagship offers, from Qi 2.2 wireless magnetic charging to the Tensor G5 chip!

What New Features Does the Pixel 10 Pro XL Offer?

From Google AI upgrades to the Tensor G5 chip, most of the Pixel 10 Pro XL’s new features are this year reserved for its software and performance. Let’s take a closer look:

Design & Display

Featuring the same size and design as its predecessor, the Pixel 10 Pro XL comes with an aluminum frame, a glass back, flat sides, and a flat screen. 

Despite this, it is slightly heavier than the previous generation, a change designed to support the bigger battery size (more on this later!). This year’s Pixel Pro XL feels a little heavier in your pocket, without being too bulky.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL’s 3000-nit Super Actua display was a new record for Google Pixel phones. However, the Pixel 10 Pro XL breaks this with an even higher 3300-nit peak brightness for the 6.8-inch screen. This means you’ll be able to see the display more clearly, even in sunny conditions!

Vibrant color options are usually reserved for the base Pixel 10. However, Google is mixing things up this year by introducing two new shades to the Pixel 10 Pro XL: Moonstone (blue-gray) and Jade (pale pistachio green with soft gold accents).

Battery & Charging

At 5200 mAh, the Pixel 10 Pro XL features the biggest battery yet on a Pixel device. This may only be a 3% improvement versus the Pixel 9 Pro XL, but it does mean an impressive 100 hours of battery life with power saving mode!

Pixel 10 phones also come with built-in Qi2 wireless charging. This standard offers even better alignment with your device to boost charging efficiency.

What makes the Pro XL the best pick of the bunch, however, is that it’s the first Android phone to support Qi 2.2, the latest wireless charging standard, with up to 25 W charging speeds. It also comes with faster 39 W wired charging. 

Google has launched a range of compatible Pixelsnap charging accessories alongside the Pixel 10 series, including a stand, ring stand, cases, and dual-port fast chargers. However, the 10 Pro XL also works with any universal Qi2 wireless charger and a wide range of compatible MagSafe accessories! 

Camera

While the base Pixel 10 comes with a new 5x Telephoto lens, there aren’t any upgrades to the Pro XL’s triple camera hardware this year. Along with a 42 MP front-facing Selfie camera, its rear camera lineup includes:

• 50 MP Wide (Main)

• 48 MP Ultrawide

• 48 MP Telephoto (with 5x zoom)

However, major improvements have instead been made to the Pro XL’s zooming technology, thanks to the largest AI model ever used on a Pixel camera.

Its 5x periscope zoom lens is replaced with a Pro Res Zoom, powered by Google AI. This Pro-exclusive feature can reach up to an impressive 100x zoom, capturing even higher-quality details up close, without the blurriness of regular zoom technology.

Portrait Mode has also received significant upgrades for the Pixel 10 series, which lacked detail on previous Pixel phones. This includes improved texture and sharpness, better subject separation, and 50 MP high-res portraits.

Tensor G5

Powering Pro Res Zoom is the Tensor G5, Google’s latest custom silicon for the Pixel 10 series. Featuring eight CPU cores, this is the first chipset designed in partnership with TSMC rather than Samsung Foundry. It offers a more reliable performance than previous generations, with fewer bugs and smoother graphics processing.

The Tensor G5 engine is supported by 16 GB of RAM, the same as the 9 Pro XL, and comes with the latest Android 16 software as standard. It also facilitates Gemini Nano, the latest Google AI model, which adds new on-device generative AI features designed to make everyday life easier. This includes:

• Camera Coach: Offers tips on lighting, composition, positioning, and more to help you take better photos.

• Magic Cue: Provides in-context support and relevant actions across multiple Google apps.

• Video Boost: Processes footage through the Cloud to enhance video quality.

• Gemini Live: Google’s AI-powered voice assistant with even more visual assistance, which uses your camera to provide direct guidance.
  

Should You Upgrade to the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL?

If you’re thinking of upgrading to a new premium flagship device, the Pixel 10 Pro XL should definitely be a top contender. Google’s latest Pixel phone doesn’t have many big improvements compared to its predecessor. However, the device does feature plenty of hidden upgrades that make it a worthwhile investment. 

This is mainly down to TSMC’s Tensor G5 chip, which supports a longer battery life and new AI features. Another incredibly exciting addition is its exclusive Qi 2.2 wireless charging compatibility!

One important point to consider, though, is that Google has removed the lower 128 GB storage option. This means you’ll automatically have more storage, but for an extra $200.
