Google Pixel 10 News, Updates & Future Models

The Google Pixel 10 has been out for nearly a month now – and while it’s not a huge shake-up for the Pixel lineup, it’s certainly a top contender for one of the best smartphones of 2025. The base phone, certainly, is setting a new standard for what we expect from a standard flagship phone.

We’re deep diving into Pixel 10 news, as well as taking a look at what Google’s got planned next.

What’s new with the Google Pixel 10?

At first glance, you might not think there’s much to shout about with the new Pixel 10 models. Compared to previous Pixel phones, like the Pixel 9, Google hasn’t made any drastic design changes for the 10. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The Pixel series – and the 10 Pro in particular – have some of the sleekest, polished displays on the market.

And when it comes to the camera and battery life, the Google Pixel 10 really shines.

Here’s what’s new with the Google Pixel 10:

  • Qi2 wireless charging makes the 10 compatible with magnetic chargers, like Apple’s MagSafe

  • The latest Tensor G5 chip is about 35% faster than the Pixel 9

  • Excellent battery life, lasting well over 24 hours

  • AI features throughout and a new feature called Magic Cue – more on this below

  • A new powerful camera with a 42MP selfie camera on Pro models and one of the best main cameras you’ll find on a smartphone. You’ll also find lots of software and AI camera features in the app to boost your photography

Google Pixel 10 Pro Models

While the base phone is setting new standards, the Pixel 10 Pro doesn’t seem to be breaking the same ground. When you release such a world-class model as your flagship phone, there’s very little room for improvement.

However, the Pixel 10 Pro models still boast a whole host of new and exciting features.

Google announced the lineup will include the Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold

How Does the Google Pixel 10 Compare to the Pixel 10 Pro?

Google has kept the size the same between the Pixel 10 and the 10 Pro, but made marginal improvements to the display, which is cleaner on the Pro 10. Both phones use the Google Tensor G5 processor.

The Pro features a silky matte back, whereas the base phone has a polished back with a satin finish.

When it comes to battery life, you can expect over 24 hours as standard on all Pixel smartphones in the 10 series. Both the Pro and base phone enable fast charging, reaching 55% in 30 minutes. Both include Pixelsnap wireless charging up to 15W.

You’ll find better memory on the Pixel 10 Pro – 16GB RAM compared to the 10’s 12GB. You can also buy up to 1TB of memory, whereas the 10 only goes up to 256GB.

The camera is where the 10 Pro really shines. With a 50MP Octa PD wide camera and a 48MP ultrawide and telephoto camera, the Pro has one of the best on the market. It also features 8K video recording, compared to the base model’s 4K. The front-facing camera is also something to boast about at 42MP. Plus, there are plenty of editing and AI  camera coach tools to help.

Does the Google Pixel 10 Have AI?

The Pixel 16 has some of Google’s most advanced AI features. This includes the latest Gemini Nano and Magic Cue.

What is Gemini Nano? This tool powers a lot of the AI features that come with the Pixel 10, such as writing, dictating, and video or image editing. Gemini Nano can even simulate a caller’s voice to translate phone calls.

Magic Cue is even more powerful – and highly useful. This AI assistant runs locally in the background of your device and proactively helps you do anything, like providing the relevant information from your emails while you’re on a call with the recipient or including weather forecasts on your calendar’s upcoming trips. It combines the Google apps on your phone to streamline your experience.

This use of AI shows that Google is moving away from the flashy, useless gimmicks to genuinely helpful tools.

What else is on the horizon for Google Pixel? The Pixel Watch 4, Pixel Buds 2a, and the Pixelsnap Charger are all newly announced.

Google Pixel Watch 4

Announced in August, the Google Pixel Watch 4 will be available on 9th October. The watch is available in two sizes (41mm and 45mm) and in Iris, Lemongrass, Porcelain, and Obsidian colors. It features a first-of-its-kind Actua 360 display, meaning a domed glass screen.

The real gamechanger? The watch comes with Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, streamlining the device’s connection with your phone.

Pixel Buds 2a

The Pixel Buds 2’s budget counterpart, 2a, will be available from 9th October. They offer 20 hours of listening time – slightly less than the 2 – and come with Gemini.

Pixelsnap Charger

The Pixelsnap Charger has been available since 28 August, and it supports the Qi2 standard with magnetic alignment. The charger can reach speeds of up to 25W (for Pixel 10 Pro XL; 15W for the other models in the Pixel 10 lineup) and can come with a stand so you can use your phone while it charges.

Final Thoughts on the Google Pixel 10

The new Pixel 10 is setting a new standard for base phones, and is certainly worth upgrading to from the 9.

However, those hoping for something equally exciting from the Pro series might feel slightly let down. Despite its influx of AI technology, the Pixel 10 Pro doesn't have much to shout about. At a marked-up price, the Pro models offer a better camera, performance, and battery life – it’s not a huge increase on the Pixel 9 Pros.

That said, Google is releasing accessories like the new Pixel Watch 4 and budget-friendly Pixel Buds 2a, as well as the Pixelsnap Charger – all new products that promise great things are on the horizon.
