Google Pixel 10 Fold Release Date: All You Need to Know
Google first launched its contribution to the foldable phones market in 2023 with the original Pixel Fold. The Pixel 9 Pro followed in 2024, adding a fourth book-style foldable device to the Pixel 9 lineup. Expected to come this year is Google’s third-generation foldable: the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
While the first Google Pixel Fold was pretty basic (featuring a folding screen that wouldn’t stay flat when open!), its follow-up offered significant design upgrades, from the inclusion of Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to the powerful Tensor G4 chip.
Will the Pixel 10 Pro Fold build on these improvements? And when can we find out what to expect? We’ll explore all the rumors surrounding the latest Pixel Fold’s release date, from potential announcement windows to shipping.
When Will the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold Be Announced?
Along with the rest of Google’s latest Pixel lineup, including the base Pixel 10, the Pro, and the Pro XL, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will likely be debuted at the Made by Google annual showcase.
Taking place at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, this event launches new smartphones and other Google devices, like the Pixel Watch and Buds. It follows the I/O keynote in May, which was focused on Google’s AI contributions this year.
Like 2024’s event, Made by Google 2025 was initially scheduled for August 13. Rumors suggest that the timeline has now been pushed back a week, meaning the event could be held on August 20, 2025, instead.
It was thought that we might catch a glimpse of the 10 series slightly earlier this year, thanks to a note inviting 25 Pixel Superfans to the Pixel Penthouse for a closed-door event. Superfans would get a preview of “upcoming devices” on June 27, while also enjoying exclusive merch and interactions with Google staff.
This led to speculation of an earlier debut for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and other devices, either at the end of June or early July. However, this now doesn’t look likely, so we expect 2025’s launch calendar to look similar to last year’s.
When is the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold Expected to Start Shipping?
Although the Pixel 8 series was launched in October 2023, Google pushed the timeline forward for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The idea was to get the devices onto the market before Apple announced its iPhone 16 range — and the same is expected this year ahead of the iPhone 17’s predicted September 2025 launch.
The Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL were released for retail sale on August 22. However, the standard Pro and Pro Fold smartphones launched on September 4, a slightly later date.

This year, in-store orders for the Pixel 10 series are expected to begin eight days after the announcement, on August 28, 2025. The pre-order window usually opens on the same day as Made by Google, so Pixel fans should be able to place orders from August 20. But, like last year, we may have to wait until early to mid-September for the 10 Pro Fold.
What to Expect From the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s launch cemented Google as a clear rival to Samsung in the foldable phones market, with the more established Z Fold 6 seeing fewer changes from previous models.

While we’re not expecting as many major upgrades this year, here’s what the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold could offer on its release date:
Design & Display
As Google’s thinnest foldable yet, the 9 Pro Fold had a huge redesign that brought it more in line with the rest of the Pixel series.
Leaked CAD renders of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold show a similar design, featuring a horizontal camera bar housing three rear lenses. This year’s book-style foldable will also have a flat metal frame, with a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back and two potential color options: Obsidian and Porcelain.
Both 8 and 6.3-inch OLED displays appear to sport the same size and smooth 120Hz refresh rates. The impressive 2700-nit peak brightness will likely remain too, although improvements to the PWM dimming rate could reduce eye strain for sensitive users.
Cameras
Google’s Pixel devices may fall into the ‘Pro’ category, but unfortunately, the cameras don’t quite live up to this name in terms of image quality. Most of the cameras from last year’s model won’t see any significant improvements.
An early leak has shown that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s 48MP Main camera could be upgraded to 50MP for the 10 series. The Ultrawide and Telephoto lenses would remain unchanged, which would deliver the following specs:
-
50MP Main
-
10.5MP Ultrawide
-
10.8MP Telephoto
-
10MP Selfie (Outer display)
-
10MP Selfie (Folding display)
Performance & Battery
In terms of battery life, the 9 Pro Fold set pretty high standards. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is therefore expected to keep the same 4650 mAh battery capacity.
The device should run on Android 16, which comes with seven years of security and OS updates. It’s also likely to include an even more advanced G5 chip, courtesy of Google’s new partnership with TSMC rather than Samsung.
Pixel Sense was originally rumored in 2023 and will now debut on the Pixel 10 series. Google’s new AI assistant will be more context-aware, using data from various Google services to help users “get the most personalized experience based on the things you do on your Pixel.”
Price
With its $1,799 price tag, the 9 Pro Fold was the most expensive Pixel device to date. New smartphones generally keep the same price as the previous model or increase slightly, meaning that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could also debut at $1,799.
However, a recent leak suggests that Google’s latest foldable could see an almost $200 price drop, starting from just $1,600. If this is true, next year’s Fold will be even cheaper at $1,500! This is likely because Google uses cheaper hardware compared to its competition, like the Galaxy Z Fold series, and is looking to make foldable phones more mainstream.
Conclusion
Google has had a pretty inconsistent launch schedule over the past few years, but an August announcement and September release date is looking increasingly likely for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. But with rumors suggesting that the Fold could become a permanent part of the Pixel lineup until at least 2028, should you invest in the 10 or wait for next year’s model?
If you already own the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, we’d recommend holding off. No major upgrades mean users benefit from the same sleek design and functionality, regardless of which device they choose.
However, if the lower price rumors are true, and you’re looking to invest in your first foldable, we’d definitely recommend the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
With the Z Fold in its sixth generation, Google may be behind Samsung in its foldable phones launch timeline. However, the 10 Pro Fold is certainly not behind, particularly with its continuing internal hardware and software improvements!
