5 Exclusive iPhone 17 Leaks We Know So Far

June 9, 2025: The start date for the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), live at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Apple’s annual conference offers the first glimpse into new iPhone features for the fall.

This year’s Keynote announced everything from a new iOS 26 operating system with Call Screening, Hold Assist, and a Games app to iPhone karaoke microphones for Apple Music. But what WWDC didn’t reveal is key details about the next generation of iPhones the iPhone 17.

Although we’ll have to wait until the September iPhone event for confirmed details of the new phones, there have already been plenty of potential changes circulating on the rumor mill. In this article, we’ll explore the latest iPhone 17 news, including leaks and potential design, software, and price clues.

5 of the Latest iPhone 17 Rumors

One key thing we’re expecting from the iPhone 17 lineup is four models in total. This includes the base iPhone 17, the Pro, the Pro Max, and a new iPhone 17 Air or “Slim” device that could debut in 2025.

Whether you’re considering an iPhone upgrade or are simply intrigued, here are some of the other exciting iPhone 17 rumors to consider:

1. Faster Wireless Charging

The iPhone 17 could deliver faster and more efficient wireless charging speeds. A regulatory filing on Taiwan’s National Communications Commission website shows two new MagSafe chargers A3503 and A3502 with the Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi 2.2 standard.

Both the 1-meter and 2-meter cables are rumored to support charging up to 45W when used with the corresponding power adapter. This marks a huge upgrade in Apple’s charging capabilities, since the maximum wireless power output for the current iPhone 16 is 25W.

These new chargers, which carry the familiar braided cables and white puck design, will work with devices from the iPhone 17 to iPhone 11, although charging speeds will be limited on the older models.

Qi 2.2 also offers improved efficiency and magnetic alignment, meaning the iPhone 17 should charge with less heat generation or power loss, plus more accuracy.

These upgrades could especially benefit new and upcoming models like the iPhone 17 Slim. This thinner edition of the iPhone 17 flagship will likely have a smaller battery to fit the design, making faster charging with as little heat as possible a must for power efficiency.

2. Upgraded Performance

All iPhone 16 models currently have 8GB of RAM, which supports decent processing speeds for smooth scrolling, multitasking, and (not forgetting!) Apple Intelligence. However, the iPhone 17 series will reportedly support 12GB of RAM, offering even greater possibilities for Apple’s AI platform.

One area where multiple conflicting rumors remain is the A-Series chipset. New iPhones come with more efficient chip technology, but this year’s release may be an exception.

Analyst Jeff Pu suggests that the iPhone 17 could keep the same A18 chip as the iPhone 16. According to Pu, the other models would get the smaller A19 chip, which is rumored to feature a 2-nanometer processor for boosted efficiency, better battery life, and enhanced AI performance.

Other rumors imply that the standard iPhone will get the A19 chip, while the premium Pro and Pro Max models are expected to include the A19 Pro.

3. Larger Display

According to Ross Young, DSCC founder and Counterpoint Research VP, the iPhone 16’s 6.1-inch display could be upgraded to 6.3 inches. This would likely make it the same size as the 17 Pro, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max will reportedly keep the 16 Pro Max’s 6.9-inch display.

An upgraded 120Hz ProMotion display is also on the cards. Since the lack of variable refresh rate was the source of many complaints on the iPhone 16, this would make a welcome addition, offering smoother scrolling and less lag.

The always-on display may also feature on the standard iPhone rather than just the Pro models. This keeps the screen lit even when you’re not using it, allowing you to see important notifications or check the time.

One slight disappointment, however, is that the iPhone 17 isn’t likely to have the rumored anti-reflective display. Already featured on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, this super-hard layer with enhanced scratch resistance wasn’t designed in time for the iPhone 16. But the latest news suggests that these designs were scrapped for the iPhone 17 due to scaling issues.

4. New Camera Features

Images leaked by Apple watcher Majin Bu show a horizontal camera bar on the top of the iPhone 17, which would spread across the device's width. This looks remarkably similar to the oval-shaped bar featured on Google Pixel phones and would add more space between the lenses, flash, and LiDAR sensor.

What’s fascinating about the setup, which replaces the current vertically stacked rear camera bump, is that it could allow horizontal and vertical video recording at the same time!

The new design could also be made from a combination of glass and aluminum rather than Apple’s regular titanium frames.

But the real benefits for the iPhone 17’s upgraded cameras will likely be inside, thanks to new camera lenses. The iPhone 17 Pro models may feature a 48MP telephoto lens, improved from the 16’s 12 megapixels, while a 24MP front-facing camera is also on the cards.

5. Colors

Teal, Ultramarine, and Pink were last year’s color options for the iPhone 16 and Plus, which added a welcome splash of color to the lineup. The Pro models kept the traditional Black Titanium, White Titanium, and Natural Titanium, and introduced a new peachy Desert Titanium shade.

While we don’t know much about the standard iPhone, we do know that this year’s iPhone 17 Pro could feature a Sky Blue option. This would match the light blue hues of the latest M4 MacBook Air, breathing fresh air into the classic flagship device.

6. Price Increase

Starting from $799, the iPhone 16 series remained at the same price as previous models. However, 25% government tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, combined with rising material costs, could impact the price point of the iPhone 17.

These tariffs come after Apple’s push for a potential manufacturing move for US iPhones from China to India was mentioned, in a move to avoid Chinese tariffs.

Apple CEO Tim Cook suggested that the tariffs could cost the company around $900 million, which may be reflected in the cost to consumers. But a recent Wall Street Journal article reported that a price rise was planned anyway to cover hardware improvements, whether tariffs go ahead or not.

Final Thoughts: What’s Really in Store for the iPhone 17?

When it comes to the latest iPhone 17 lineup, we won’t know for sure what the devices will look like or how they work until the official release date and preorder window.

For now, everything we know is based on expert knowledge, information leaked by Apple insiders, and rumors from the smartphone community. Keep an eye on Ghostek Insider for more iPhone 17 updates as September approaches!
